M41A3 Walker Bulldog (VARBX01)
Given the Republic of Vietnam’s limited technical capabilities, the American M41A3 Walker Bulldog light tank was well suited to the war in South Vietnam. They were armed and armoured well enough to deal with most Viet Cong forces, while being easy to maintain.

When the ARVN cavalry faced North Vietnamese tanks for the first time during Operation Lam Son 719 in Laos, they discovered that tactics could compensate for their light armour, while their long 76mm guns could penetrate any enemy tank they faced.

Beehive Ammunition
A vital round for tanks and artillery in Vietnam was the devastating, ‘beehive’ canister round, named for the sound of more than a thousand pellets whizzing past.

A gun equipped with Beehive ammunition may fire this instead of normal ammunition. A tank firing Beehive ammunition with its main gun can still fire its machine-guns as it would if the main gun fired any other sort of ammunition. In addition, it can fire any Cupola MG when firing Beehive ammunition as no sophisticated aiming is needed.

Beehive ammunition has the characteristics listed below. Unlike normal ammunition, the ROF of Beehive is not reduced when the firing team moves or is Pinned Down. Instead it suffers a +1 penalty on its To Hit rolls.

AA MG (Anti-aircraft MG)
Many vehicles are fitted with anti-aircraft machine-guns to protect the crews from strafing and dive-bombing aircraft. These are fired by the crew from the open hatches of their vehicles. Manning the anti-aircraft machine-gun during an assault invites a grenade through the open hatch if the defensive fire isn’t effective.

An AA MG has an all-round Field of Fire and is a Self-defence Anti-aircraft weapon (see page 182 of the rulebook) allowing it to engage aircraft as well as targets on the ground. However, firing an AA MG leaves the vehicle more vulnerable. In assaults a tank that fired an AA MG in this or the previous player’s turn has a Top armour rating of 0.

Anti-aircraft machine-guns can be fired at the same time as other machine-guns, but not at the same time as a Main Gun, since the commander and gun crew cannot do two things at once.
